sunny day?

apple peeling

show blanket 2

chai and witchy napkin

yesterday was bright and beautiful and somehow I ended up doing all rainy day type things. It was a hot chai drinking, apple cake baking, curl up and crochet type of day.

Chai tastes better when you use a cute little witch-y napkin!

Harry got to see the magic of the apple peeler. ( like this one but I got mine for four bucks thrifting ) We had one granny smith peel that came off all together and stretched all the way across the dining room!

Try this apple cake recipe. It's super easy and wicked good. Add some cloves and nutmeg like she says. And it fits just in a nine-inch round pan. (I like to use my cake stand at every chance!) And it absolutely demands fresh whipped cream, so do like my (genius) sister-in-law and make some with real maple syrup instead of sugar added. I wish I had a photo to share but it disappeared so quick. Just an excuse to make another today...

I love apple season. Fall is the perfect time for apple-y desserts filled with yummy spices like nutmeg and cloves and allspice and cinnamon. :)

Seriously, how did anyone ever make applesauce (or apple cake or any other apple dish) before those amazing peeling, coring, slicing thingys? Quite possibly my most favorite kitchen gadget of all.

I love my apple peeler corer slicing thingy, everytime I use it my girls gobble up the peels.

ooo I love your cosy looking couch. If I lived in the states I'd pop over (with homemade biscuits) and sit on the other end and crochet! Can you pass me my cup of tea please?
