under my pillow

under my pillow

The library is my new best friend.
(I know, I'm twenty-seven year old bibliophile, I should really know that by now, right?)

I went to pick up We Took to the Woods yesterday and somehow I got sucked into the cookbook aisle.
Oh boy.
Maine inspired because it's the only place I want to be in the summer. And Vegetable Love? Who could pass a title like that in this season? Veggies are all I want lately, so this one will be seeing some serious use before it goes back.

But while cookbooks and craftbooks can be great friends, I need a good summer read. or three. I can kill a novel pretty quickly. So I need some suggestions, please? Nothing too heavy but not too fluffy? What's the one book you always go back to, find yourself picking up again? I feel like I've read everything I have ten times.

Okay - I'm not sure what you have or haven't read - but one of my favorites is: Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, by Joseph Safran.

I wish you luck in your summer reading endeavor. And, if you happen to find other good suggestions, send them my way! ;)

I just got back from the library. I've been reading a lot of Jodi Picoult lately...her books keep me up late at night!

Love Maine! My husband is from there so I am fortunate to have a MIL who lives there. Have you ever read Tara Road by Maeve Binchy? One of my favorite summer reads. The ladies in my knitting group are raving over a book called The Help. It is on my list but I have not read it yet.
Good luck!

I am really enjoying reading short stories at the moment. I have read "The boat" by nam le and am now reading "Unaccustomed Earth" by Jhumpa Lahiri. The stories so far have been good with a focus on people with an Indian background. On my bedside table I also have a collection of stories by one of my favourite authors Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie entitled "The thing around your neck". Let me know if you read any of these!

I echo chocotania's suggestion. A little bit sad, but very funny.

Have you read "The Birth House" by Ami MacKay? One of the best pieces of storytelling I've ever read. Mandatory for all moms, IMHO.

If you haven't yet read "Midnight's Children" by Salman Rushdie, I highly recommend it!

Definitely the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. I didn't think I'd like them but I found myself just gobbling them up. They're really good!

Sidartha is my go to summer book, its quick and easy to read, and might just help you understand the meaning of it all.
