halloween week, day one

Hooray! It's almost halloween and this messy crafty house is stretching to festivities. This is a big holiday in our family with all the usual tricks and some odd traditions of our own.

It's wasn't until this year I realized how much of Halloween is based around eating! It's like a pre-Thanksgiving stretch for your belly.

Well, I think you all know how I feel about sprinkles. And a girl can't feed her family on cupcakes alone, so I got up this morning trying out something I haven't before...

Caramel Apples!

I did cheat and use a bag of caramels.

I bought them as a just-in-case-I-don't-have-a-ton-of-time problem solver, but they ended up being a don't-have-everything-on-hand problem solver.

I did find a fab recipe here that I'll be trying out come Thanksgiving and Christmas, but today I'm a cheater.

These are my favourites. (0n the great new kitchen towels from Amy!)

And on my new cake stand that I'm in love with.

All the rest are at flickr.

Tomorrow I have a quickie recycled bat and a movie roundup. So what's your favourite Halloween movie? (scary or not)

I've been wanting to make caramel apples with some of the apples we picked this year, but I don't know if I'll get around to doing it. Your apples and photos look wonderful! Now I'm craving caramel apples.... greaaaat.
