I love to be outside day

Yesterday I picked eleven cups of thimbleberries between my family's house and my own.
The day before I picked two and a half large coffee cans of blueberries. (I didn't actually measure them in real increments.) They're transforming into pies, muffins, jam. And being stuffed into the freezer for winter pick-me-ups. Let's face it, store-bought, off-season (overpriced) berries mostly taste like tiny bits of cardboard.

It's really hard to not make this into a temporary berry blog. (Jessica understands.)

There's just nothing quite like the satisfaction of sitting in the grass, listening to your boys playing in the sun, gathering the sweetest crop of the whole year.

Burgess shares life ideas with me. He says that lying in the shade, in the scent of warm thimbleberries does wonders for releasing tension.

He must be right. Does he look stressed to you?

If you have an 'I love to be outside' post, leave a comment and I'll link to you.

Anne has a thing for hydrangeas.

If you don't, maybe you should next week....?

I've got a short one! I might be adding more later.
Everyone should look as Zen as Burgess...

I'd love to love to be outside. (Does that make sense?) Unfortunately, that is impossible between the months of April through September here. And sadly enough, there are basically no edible foods that grow wild... well, besides dandelions. LOL

I'm so jealous of you guys! Looks like fun.

I'm really starting to question if I can write about berries one more day or not.... I am ready for blueberries right now and am thinking about freezing a munch for blueberry pancakes and muffins. I wish I had some land where I could grow a berry patch-That would just make my day!

Thimbleberries look a lot like raspberries to me, albeit growing differently than the plants in our backyard.

Thimbleberries? Never heard of those, but they sure have a cute name!

If I had access to fresh-picked berries, I would have a temporary berry blog too!. Lucky you!
